The Installation Method
If you already have a standard ceiling grid, select the size of the tiles in the filtering options above to match your grid and filter the results. If you don’t have a ceiling grid, go with an easier approach by using our glue-up, peel-and-stick, or nail-up ceiling tiles.
- Glue-up> are beginner friendly and only require an adhesive like our Instant Grab. Simply wipe any dust and debris from your ceiling and the tile, apply the adhesive, and put it into place. It is perfect for PVC, faux-tin, styrofoam, and urethane.
- Nail-Up is a medium-skill level solution because you need to be good with a hammer and nails. These ceiling tiles are nailed directly onto a plywood or furring strip substrate and are best for tin, rustic steel and copper ceiling tiles.
- Drop-in are laid into a grid system suspended from the structural ceiling and are more common in commercial spaces. They’re popular for acoustic ceiling tiles where sound control is important, and are most common in commercial spaces like hotels, classrooms, stores, restaurants, museums, and cafes.
- Peel-and-Stick are lightweight tiles made from durable PVC and Styrofoam that come with a self-adhesive backing for an easy, fast, and mess-free installation.
Select the Right Material
The materials matter just as much as the installation method as some of our ceiling tiles are Class A Fire Rated and acoustic making them perfect for hotels, restaurants, and businesses, while others are purely decorative as an easy way to refresh a room or cover an outdated popcorn or drywall ceiling.

Real Metal Ceiling Tiles
Most real metal ceiling tiles are Class A Fire Rated making them perfect for businesses like cafes and restaurants, hotels, bars, and event venues. Homeowners love the added safety of the rating, and everyone enjoys the luster and look of authentic metal whether it is aged copper or steel, shiny tin, or aluminum.

Faux-metal and Other Materials
Sometimes you just want to cover an old and outdated popcorn ceiling, or you don’t feel like painting drywall. This is where alternative materials come in.
While some are naturally acoustic and can be Class-A Fire Rated like our PVC faux-tin, others like styrofoam are purely decorative and make for an easy and inexpensive weekend renovation project.
- Faux-Tin ceiling tiles replicate the look of our real tin ceiling tiles, but come at a fraction of the price. They are more affordable, easy to shape and trim, and lighter making them easier to ship and handle. They’re also Class-A Fire Rated making them perfect for businesses and residential use, and unlike real metal tiles they help prevent metal echos.
- Styrofoam ceiling tiles are molded into high-density materials for durability, and they’re lightweight making them easy to install. They’re perfect for any room in your home from basements to living rooms, dining rooms, and laundry rooms. Best of all you can install them with a simple adhesive letting you transform your space in hours, not days.
- Urethane tiles are from high-density polyurethane and are a great alternative to plaster ceilings. They are moisture-resistant, lightweight and durable, making them a low-maintenance option for your home.

Measure Your Ceiling
Measuring your ceiling for the tiles is easier than it appears, even if you have curved walls or coffered ceilings. For curved walls and odd shapes, go with PVC or faux-metal tiles as they’re easy to trim and shape as needed.
For non-coffered ceilings use a tape measure to find:
- The room length
- The room width
For coffered ceilings and partial spaces measure the length and width of the space the tiles will be installed in. Now add 10% to 15% more square feet in ceiling tiles than the space measurement to allow for mistakes and trimming.
For a 10x12 foot room, this is the measurement formula:
- 10 feet X 12 feet = 122 square feet
- 10% of 122 is 12.2 square feet
- The total amount of material needed is 134 square feet.
If the tiles are 2x2, you’ll need 34 tiles to make sure you have the extra materials in case of mistakes or when filler is needed.
Accessories and Extra Materials
While the tiles alone can be trimmed and look stunning, sometimes you may want a matching or contrasting border, and other times you’ll want to incorporate a ceiling medallion, especially for Victorian, maximalist, and art nouveau spaces. If you have a flat ceiling and are using peel and stick, glue-up, nail-up and the ceiling tile is made from PVC, styrofoam, or polyurethane, it is DIY friendly for beginners. The same with drop-in metal tiles if you have a grid, unless you need to trim the metal as this requires extra tools.
For cathedral and sloped ceilings, or great rooms with an atrium, or real metal tiles that need trimmed and shaped, it is best to contact a professional as these are tricky and more complicated for installation.
