What Are The Tiles Made Of?

Ceiling tiles are traditionally made of aluminum, bamboo pulp, fiberglass-reinforced polymer, PVC/Faux tin, styrene, styrofoam, and/or urethane.

They are installed by two primary methods: Drop In and Glue Up.

Glue Up is pretty self-explanatory. These tiles have to be sealed with a specific brand of glue to stick on properly.

Drop-In is a tad more complex because it requires a previously installed grid but, once the grid is in place, the process isn’t too difficult.

Most of these tiles allow you to choose the method that works best for you and your home, which is another bonus.

This specific look is made of PVC and the color palette is Antique Bronze, Olympic Gold, and Brass.    If you’re looking for something a little more Victorian and, dare I say dated, this tile is a great choice. They cover four square feet and measure 23 3/4" by 23 3/4”. There is no choice for the installation method here - glue-up is the only option, which is important to note.

   These tiles are priced between $69.00 and $79.00, depending on the style and make.

5. Odysseus Shield IV - FAD Faux Patina Finish Hand Painted Ceiling Tile - #CTF-014-4

   

   These beautiful ceiling tiles are styled with Mediterranean impulses and impressions. The tiles cover four square feet and weigh 9.2 ounces. They are made with PVC with a faux patina finish and are colored by iron oxide patina and green patina over copper paint. The Odyssey Shield IV is also compatible with most surfaces, including drywall, plaster, concrete, plywood, suspended ceilings, and grid systems.

   The Shield also allows you to choose a Finish Sheen, between Low Luster and Gloss. This tile is also compatible with both indoor and outdoor settings with an additional cost for outdoor sealant.
