I purchased these some decorative ceiling tiles made of Styrofoam from http://www.decorativeceilingtiles.net for this project after seeing videos similar to my own. I covered a pretty nasty popcorn ceiling in a hallway that had numerous coats of paint installing them in about 5 hours and here are the results.

As everyone else already said, they are an easy alternative. However, the tiles are not square due to the shrinkage of the foam as it cures in manufacturing. This is very frustrating to work with and unfortunately does not make the product as nice as it could be. Also, they are not 20" x 20". They are only 19.5" square which may be a factor for some if they are using these numbers to calculate the number of tiles needed.

An easy product to work with and a quick and non-messy solution to an old stipple ceiling. I will second the "Easy install" critique that the tiles are not 'square'(lots of caulking to do), but all in all, a very good alternative, looks great and most important, my client loves it. We had to order a few extra tiles & Milan was excellent to deal with - was sensitive to our project timing & worked to get them to us within 2 days!

I had already done our dining room ceiling using a different tile..I am very anxious to put up out living room tiles awaiting the balance of my shipment before I begin..very simple to install and I can't wait for see the final result.

After finally receiving the styrofoam tiles I ordered,because a delay in shipping...they were very easy to install. I painted them with white ceiling paint and they look great !! After putting up a few pieces...I noticed the tiles were not square (to late to take them down to square up). One edge of all the tiles was bowed out. Very tedious having to caulk all the seems...not as easy as your video shows. All in all..I do like the tiles and will order again. With the delay(almost a month) in receiving my order, I think it's only right that I should get at least a 10% discount on my next order.

We have an older home with cracked ceilings. Patching just never matched up well. The tiles were a great alternative to resurface the ceiling. Easy to work with, but note that the tiles are not perfectly square.
