I purchased these some decorative ceiling tiles made of Styrofoam from http://www.decorativeceilingtiles.net for this project after seeing videos similar to my own. I covered a pretty nasty popcorn ceiling in a hallway that had numerous coats of paint installing them in about 5 hours and here are the results.

Wasn't sure about the styrofoam idea but once I had the product in hand, and how easy it was to oder the samples online, I'm in awe that something so simple could turn a space into sheer elegance. I'm about to open up a Hair Salon in the Central Valley (CA) and will definitely be using the styrofoam tiles to enhance the decor. Thank you for the updates in between as well. The story was fun!

YES these looked just like styrofoam, until I painted them. I tried the latex (white) paint that I will use on the tiles we are ordering for our bathroom. They painted easy, and they now look like any other white painted ceiling tile. I wasn't able to get the 3 sample tiles I actually wanted, but thankfully my first choice was available. Now I know for sure what we are ordering.

ifeel they are to thin for a family room if someone hits it with pool stick it would break or mark up, they also look cheap. i would be afraid to paint. i feel i wasted 10 dollars but that is better then ordering a bunch and have to send back

Not What I Expected

I was so excited to get my sample tiles in the mail. I was surprised at how much they looked like styrofoam. I need white tiles for my kitchen ceiling, so I would be using that same product. Perhaps the colored tiles are more realistic. Also, I have average height ceilings. Anyone looking up would know that it was styrofoam. I will not use this product.
