Decorative Wall Panels

What are your choices when you want to give a room some pizzazz and make it stand out from the ordinary? Paint is the old standby, but if you're honest with yourself, after being in just about any painted room for more than a few minutes, it begins to look like all the rest, regardless of what color you choose. Wallpaper is always an option, but that often requires bringing in a high-priced professional if you want to end up with a good-looking job. How about some custom interior trim or perhaps adding wainscoting and a chair rail? Those can be great choices, but once again, costs can escalate.

Fortunately, you have another option to add to your list: decorative wall panels from Decorative Ceiling Tiles. Our decorative wall panels may look very similar to the ceiling tiles we're so famous for, because that's exactly what they are: ceiling tiles that can also be installed on a room's walls.

Why Install Decorative Walls Panels in Your Home?

Faux leather decorative wall panels installed behind a flat screen tv. There are many reasons for placing decorative wall panels on one or more walls of a room in your home. Of course, the primary reason is for the visual impact: A wall covered with tin or faux-leather decorative wall panels can act as a centerpiece for the room's décor, creating a focal point that is sure to be noticed as soon as friends and family enter the room. Some decorative wall panels also have a fire rating, which can be a consideration if you live in a townhome or have a family room or bedroom adjacent to a garage. If you enjoy watching and listening to your home theater, you might also consider installing wall decorative panels for their sound-absorbing value. They can be used to keep that climactic soundtrack near your ears rather than those of other family members, who might be trying to sleep.

Why Use Decorative Walls Panels in Your Place of Business?

The qualities that make decorative panels for walls so popular for residential use can also make them an attractive choice for businesses. Pubs, professional offices, retail spaces, and any other commercial space that might benefit from additional fire resistance or reduced sound transmission are good candidates for these panels, and their attractive appearance and low cost are just icing on the cake.

Shop Our Wide Variety of Styles, Colors, and Materials

The most difficult part of using decorative wall panels in your home or business might be deciding which type and style is right for your needs. Fortunately, Decorative Ceiling Tiles provides the opportunity to order decorative ceiling tile samples, and in some cases, we have sample packets of our wall decorative panels available that provide a mixture of various styles. Even if you're reasonably sure of what style and color you want, it's always a good idea to order a few samples first. Like many human-made building products, decorative panels can vary slightly in color and shading from the photos you see online or tiles you see in stores.

Styrofoam Decorative Wall Panels

Purplelish wall decor use as a backdrop for Photography. These panels are available in white or in more than 40 hand-painted colors. The white panels have more than 50 style variations to select from and can either be installed as they are or painted to create your own unique color scheme. Styrofoam wall panels are very light and easy to work with, and they can be cut with scissors or a utility knife. They're very affordable, and they can even provide a little extra insulation value for your walls where they're installed. Styrofoam panels are ideal for rooms that don't get heavy use; if you have small children or large pets, one of the other types of panels might be a better choice.

Faux-Tin Decorative Wall Panels

Faux-tin decorative wall panels give a wall the appearance of vintage tin at a lower cost. The tiles are made of PVC, which is very durable and easy to work with, but once they're installed, they look just like metal. Decorative Ceiling Tiles has almost 50 styles of 24 by 24-inch faux-tin decorative panels for walls to choose from, and many have numerous color options. The faux-tin panels have a Class A fire rating, and if you should ever decide to take them down (highly unlikely), they are also recyclable. Many photographers find that faux-tin wall panels make an excellent backdrop for portraits.

Do Decorative Panels Require an Expert for Installation?

If you're one of those people who enjoy bragging to friends and family about the specialty contractor you hired for your home improvement job and the old-world craftsmanship the project required, you may be disappointed with our wall panels. These products can be installed yourself with nails or glue: If you can use a hammer, tin snips, and scissors, you can quickly place these panels on just about any wall.

Glue-up panels can be attached to most stable wall surfaces without much preparation. The wall should be cleaned of any debris, and if there is any loose plaster or drywall, it should be scraped away. It's also a good idea to take a few minutes to plan out how you'll put the panels up. In most cases, it's best to work toward the edges and corners so that any partial pieces of panel are away from the central part of the room. You may want to start with a full panel at the top of the wall and end up with a partial piece at the bottom, where it may be hidden by furniture. But this is a matter of personal preference: A partial panel at the top with metal or wood trim where the wall meets the ceiling can look very nice, too.

Nail-up panels are installed in much the same fashion as the glue-up varieties, but in most situations, you'll need to put a suitable nailing surface in place first. Sheetrock, plaster, and most quarter-inch plywood paneling will not be sufficient to hold nails in place, and with most interior framing being 16 or 24 inches on center, there needs to be a more secure nailing anchor installed. Plywood sheets ranging from 3/8 to 5/8 of an inch thick often work best and are normally light enough that one person can work with them without much effort.

While installing the panels is very easy, it never hurts to have a little additional assistance. Decorative Ceiling Tiles provides numerous helpful installation tips for all of our ceiling tiles and wall panels online, and we're always happy to assist people who contact us with questions.
